Some goals for the month:
- Read more books than I did last month (11+ books)
- Read some graphic novels or manga! (I'm going to catch up to Haikyuu!! I'm speaking this to existence)
- Finish a series
- Read a non-fiction? (this is extremely tentative because I'm not a fan of non-fiction)
- Read a romance? (other than What Happened To Goodbye because I've already finished that)
- Read a hard-hitting contemporary or literary fiction (my newfound favorite genre?)

The Folk of the Air Trilogy by Holly Black
Yes this is finally happening. I'm really hoping this satisfies my enemies-to-lovers craving because I've been feeling deprived of this since Carry On. I've also been trying to read at least one highly lauded series each month to catch up with the booktube trends. I've also heard very mixed reviews on this series, especially the last installment, so I'm excited to see which side I'll take in the end. I'm personally expecting this to fall around the 4 star range? I think I'm going to like it quite a bit it seems like something I'd love.
Beartown by Fredrik Backman
I've just heard so many great things about this book. I don't think I've heard any negative reviews for this book actually. All I know about this book is that it's a commentary on rape culture, and how people in positions of power are able to get away with such atrocities especially since people tend to not listen to women. This is the book I'm planning to read for a hard-hitting contemporary/literary fiction. I also really want a physical copy of this book because I love the cover so much it's gorgeous. I'm honestly expecting this to be an amazing read, so around a 4 star - 5 star range? I have very high expectations for this one.
Blink by Malcolm Gladwell
So...I actually started this book way back in December 2019 and I never finished it. I honestly got too busy with school to finish it. It is pretty much a compilation of many different psychology case studies which he uses to show readers how we "think without thinking." Again, I'm not a fan of non-fiction books, but I'm hoping to finally finish this book. It's been on my "will-finish-later" shelf for way too long. As for my expectations, I'm not sure? Maybe around a 3 star range since non-fiction isn't really my thing?
Haikyuu!! (Vol. 38 & on) by Haruichi Furudate
I'm speaking this into existence: I will catch up to Haikyuu!! this month.
I feel like such a traitor to my own brand—who am I without HQ? I feel like 80% of my identity is defined by my love for Kozume Kenma. But anyways, this cover makes me happy because I really love Fukurodani. There are also rumors that Haikyuu!! is ending soon? I'm not ready for that but I see why everyone is speculating that it's almost over.
Anyway, I'm expecting this to be 4-5 star range because it's Haikyuu!!
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
The fact that I've never read an Acevedo book is absolutely shameful. I put this book on my TBR because of the cover, and the fact that everyone's been highly praising Acevedo's books lately with her newest release Clap When You Land, but I'm reading the summary and I love books about single parents and baking!! I think I'll really like this book, so I'm guessing it'll be around a 4-5 star read?
The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Bennett's newest release, The Vanishing Half, has been getting a lot of buzz on booktube lately, but I thought I'd start with her debut novel. I haven't heard much about this book, but it was recommended in this video of Kat/paperbackdreams's, and I trust her and her sister's judgement (I thoroughly enjoyed Lauren's recommendations: A Little Life & The Great Believers). I think this could be a 4-5 star read?
Vicious by V.E. Schwab
This book has been on my TBR since way back before I started getting into booktube. And I have extremely high expectations for this one. I've never read a Schwab book, so I'm not even sure if I'll like her writing, but I'm just going to be completely honest and say I'm expecting this to be a 5 star read. I try not to be too hopeful with books, but I have really high hopes for this one.
Beach Read by Emily Henry
After reading What Happened To Goodbye and enjoying it quite a bit, I thought I'd try to get into the romance genre. And what better book to start with than this one? I really love the brightly illustrated cover and I honestly wish I could read this on the beach, but COVID... But anyway this has such bright, summery vibes—perfect for July! I think this will be on the high end of a 3 star rating? Maybe even a 4? Though I enjoyed the Dessen book, I'm still doubtful about romance so I think leaving my expectations low will benefit me the most.
Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
This book has also been huge on booktube, and I've heard nothing but praises so I'm really excited to read this one. Hibbert has also recently come out with another book in this sort-of-series? And I've heard great things about that one too. I actually have really high expectations for this one, despite it being a romance, so I'm hoping this will be a 4 star read?
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
This one I've heard extremely polarizing reviews of, so I'm a little scared. All I know about this book is that I should avoid spoilers as much as possible. And I've heard there's the amnesia trope? Which is often a hit with me but when it's done badly it could be a real miss. So, since I'm extremely dubious about my enjoyment of this book, I'm expecting it to be a 3 star read? I'm excited though since I'm planning on buddy reading this with my friends!

Wow I've put so many books on this TBR I'm not sure I'll get through it all...
Honestly, this is a list of books I want to read as of this moment, and as mentioned before I'm a huge mood-reader, so I wouldn't be too surprised if I completely strayed from this TBR. I guess I should be glad that I've kept to the TBR I posted at the end of my wrap-up? (I've finished What Happened To Goodbye and The Cruel Prince, and I've just started reading Beartown)
What books are you planning to read in July?
